Developer documentation · v1

Monellyn API.

One REST API for card deposits, alternative payment methods, payouts, refunds and card verification. Request and response samples cover every endpoint and flow, so you can integrate quickly.

Base URLhttps://{processing-endpoint}

Your account manager or the support team gives you the processing endpoint.

Formatapplication/json

JSON request and response bodies over HTTPS.

Supportinfo@monellyn.net

Authentication

Send every request with an Authorization header that contains the word Bearer, a space, and your shop API key.

Authorization: Bearer YOUR_SHOP_API_KEY

Some merchant tools also accept Bearer followed by base64(merchant portal login + space + merchant portal password). Keep keys on your server and never expose them in a browser or mobile app.

Quick start

  1. Get your credentials. Your account manager sends the processing endpoint, shop API key and Merchant Portal access.
  2. Test in the sandbox. Use the test cards and accounts to try every flow.
  3. Create a payment. Call Create a payment and redirect the customer to redirectUrl when you get one.
  4. Handle callbacks. Listen on your webhook URL and verify the signature.
  5. Go live. Switch to the production endpoint and key.

Environments

The Merchant Portal shows processing volumes, reports, transactions and active users. Sign in with the credentials you receive during integration.

EnvironmentMerchant Portal URL
Sandboxhttps://{processing-endpoint}/
Productionhttps://{processing-endpoint}/

Required parameters

The mandatory fields depend on the paymentType. Your account manager confirms the final list for your setup.

paymentTypeRequired parameters
DEPOSITpaymentType, amount, currency, customer.firstName, customer.lastName, customer.email, customer.phone, billingAddress.addressLine1, billingAddress.city, billingAddress.countryCode, billingAddress.postalCode
WITHDRAWALpaymentType, amount, currency, customer.firstName, customer.lastName, customer.email, customer.phone, card.cardholderName, card.expiryMonth, card.expiryYear, billingAddress.addressLine1, billingAddress.city, billingAddress.countryCode, billingAddress.postalCode
REFUNDpaymentType, parentPaymentId, amount, currency
CARDVERIFYpaymentType, amount, currency

Transaction statuses

Every transaction moves through these states. Final states never change again.

StateFinalWhat it means
COMPLETEDfinalThe transaction has been processed successfully.
REFUNDEDfinalThe transaction has been refunded.
CHARGEBACKfinalThe transaction was marked as a chargeback. The process usually has several stages that depend on the processor or bank.
DECLINEDfinalThe transaction was rejected, for example for insufficient funds or security reasons.
CANCELLEDfinalThe customer or the system stopped the transaction before completion, or it timed out.
ERRORfinalThe transaction hit an error during processing and needs investigation.
CHECKOUTin progressThe customer is completing the payment.
RECONCILIATIONin progressThe transaction is under review or reconciliation, usually with a checkState request.
PENDINGin progressThe transaction is waiting for further processing or approval.
AWAITING_WEBHOOKin progressWaiting for a webhook notification.
AWAITING_REDIRECTin progressWaiting for a redirect, for example to another page for extra details.
AWAITING_APPROVALin progressA withdrawal waiting for extra authorisation. Use Confirm payout.
AWAITING_RETURNin progressWaiting for the customer to return from an external interface.
CASCADING_CONFIRMATIONin progressThe customer is approving the next provider in the cascade.
PARTIAL_COMPLETEin progressStarted by the customer and awaiting final confirmation from the acquiring bank. Funds have left the customer's account but are not yet credited.
INPUT_REQUIREDin progressWaiting for the customer to fill in extra data.

Callbacks

Set a webhook URL in your website settings in the Merchant Portal, or pass webhookUrl in the create payment request. A URL in the request overrides the one in the portal.

Signature verification

Generate a signing key in your website settings. Callbacks then include a Signature header: the HMAC-SHA256 of the exact raw body, keyed with your signing key, as lowercase hex.

  • Use the exact raw JSON body of the HTTP request. Do not pretty-print or reorder it.
  • Encode both the key and the body as UTF-8 before hashing.
  • Compare your hex string with the Signature header. If they match, the callback is genuine.
Compute the signature
import hmac, hashlib

raw_body = '{"id":"..."}'  # exact raw body
key = "LtAs7UiLl5UQ"

signature = hmac.new(
    key.encode("utf-8"),
    raw_body.encode("utf-8"),
    hashlib.sha256,
).hexdigest()  # lowercase hex

The callback body follows the payment object. Its state is always one of the final states: COMPLETED, DECLINED, CANCELLED, CHARGEBACK, ERROR, REFUNDED, or PARTIAL_COMPLETE.

Sandbox

Test every flow in the sandbox. Keep the amount below 10,000,000, and below 10,000 for withdrawals and refunds. Card 4000…0002 emulates 3-D Secure: enter the one-time password to finish.

APPLEPAY, GOOGLEPAY, MBWAY, MULTIBANCO and OPENBANKING need no test account. Pass the method in the request: an amount above 100 is declined automatically, and 100 or less is approved automatically.

Payout methods

These structures emulate payouts in the sandbox.

Card verification

Use paymentType: CARDVERIFY to check a card without charging it, then reuse it for future deposits and withdrawals.

  • amount must always be 0.
  • Required: paymentType, paymentMethod (e.g. BASIC_CARD), amount, currency and customer.email. Name and address are optional but improve scoring and fraud prevention.
  • On success the callback contains a token in paymentMethodDetails.
  • Send that token as cardPanId to charge or pay out without card data. You get the final status immediately, with no redirect.

Apple Pay token

With paymentMethod: APPLEPAYTOKEN, pass the raw Apple Pay token in card.networkToken as stringified JSON. Do not modify or restructure it, and escape it properly. If you leave it out, checkout renders the Apple Pay button and collects the token itself.

"card": {
  "networkToken": "{\"paymentData\":{\"data\":\"qvjIjsXrJpUf9ugOpiae...\",\"signature\":\"MIAGCSqGSIb3DQEHAqCAMIACAQE...\",\"header\":{\"transactionId\":\"98b0c546fed2...\",\"ephemeralPublicKey\":\"MFkwEwYHKoZIzj0CAQYI...\",\"publicKeyHash\":\"4BFtOuTdX0A+DFbumXho...\"},\"version\":\"EC_v1\"},\"paymentMethod\":{\"displayName\":\"MasterCard 3202\",\"network\":\"MasterCard\",\"type\":\"debit\"},\"transactionIdentifier\":\"98b0c546fed2...\"}"
}

Google Pay

Both flows use paymentMethod: GOOGLEPAYTOKEN with the PAYMENT_GATEWAY tokenisation model. Merchants must follow the Google Pay API Acceptable Use Policy and Terms of Service.

Hosted payment page

Send the request without card.networkToken. Our payment page renders the Google Pay button and collects the token.

Server-to-server

Your frontend gets the Google Pay PaymentData and you pass the full object, stringified and unchanged, in card.networkToken.

Tokenisation settings

We issue gateway and gatewayMerchantId during onboarding. They must match exactly.

"tokenizationSpecification": {
  "type": "PAYMENT_GATEWAY",

  • Authorisation methods: PAN_ONLY (3-D Secure may be applied by the acquirer) and CRYPTOGRAM_3DS (authentication handled by Google Pay). Declare them in allowedAuthMethods.
  • Card networks: declare the networks enabled for you in allowedCardNetworks, e.g. VISA, MASTERCARD, JCB, INTERAC, DISCOVER, AMEX.
  • 3-D Secure: we do not run an MPI. When 3-D Secure is required, the provider, acquirer or issuer applies it.
  • Send the full PaymentData object, not only tokenizationData.token. An invalid payload is rejected.

Crypto payments

To use a specific blockchain with paymentMethod: CRYPTO, set it in additionalParameters, for example {"blockchain": "TRX"}. The response contains a redirectUrl and the deposit wallet in paymentMethodDetails.

Routing fields

These customer fields let routing rules treat traffic differently.

FieldTypeDescription
routingGroupstring ≤ 64Puts the customer into a routing group so different groups can follow different routing strategies.
kycStatusbooleantrue if the customer passed KYC verification, false if not.
paymentInstrumentKycStatusbooleantrue if the payment instrument (e.g. the card) passed KYC verification.
dateOfFirstDepositstring · YYYY-MM-DDDate of the customer's first deposit.
depositsAmountintegerTotal deposited by the customer, in the base currency (EUR).
withdrawalsAmountintegerTotal withdrawn by the customer, in the base currency (EUR).

withdrawalsCntintegerNumber of withdrawals made by the customer.
trustLevelstringftd for first-time-deposit traffic, redep for redeposit traffic.
affiliatedstring ≤ 3yes enables affiliate-based routing, no disables it.

Customer statistics validation

Routing rulesets support two kinds of usage limits based on the customer's email and shop. Internal stats are tracked automatically across all rulesets in the same shop. External stats are checked against the values you send: depositsAmount, withdrawalsAmount, depositsCnt and withdrawalsCnt. If you send no customer stats, external validation is skipped.
